Non-title tournaments

Asahi

"Asahi Open" - one of the most important non-title professional shogi tournaments. All professionals, two women professionals and 10 amateurs take part in the event. 32 best players by play-off system determine the winner who will play final match against the last year Asahi champion. It is necessary to win 3 games to be the Asahi champion. Time limit is 3 hours for every players. The champion get a prize in 20 millions yen.

Asahi Open was transformed from All Japan professionals tournaments in 2000.
